The Breaking Crucible

Now the crucible is breaking;
Now my faith its seal is taking;
Molten gold, unhurt by fire,
Only thus, 'tis ever given,
Up to joys of highest heaven,
For God's children to aspire.

Safely through another week
God has brought us on our way,
Let us now a blessing seek,
On the approaching Sabbath-day:
Day of all the week the best,
Emblem of eternal rest.

O Father, who didst Abram call
To leave his father's earthly hall
And led him, though he did not know
The land to which Thou bad'st him go,
